Final Predictions For The 2023 Academy Awards
The Oscars are tomorrow and I’ve just shut down voting for my model. This year, I’m trying something new by placing these results here on my new substack page. The hope here is that you’ll subscribe a
It’s that time again! The final results for the Oscar Ratings.
Best Supporting Actress:
This is a two person race, but Kerry Condon is our winner here.
Best Supporting Actor:
Ke Huy Quan is the winner and it’s not terribly close. The two Banshees actors take a very distant second and third place.
Best Actress:
Just a heavyweight fight with no other nominees receiving a positive rating score. Cate Blanchett edges out victory over Michelle Yeoh, despite a modest disadvantage in the Game Ratio.
Best Actor:
Colin Farrell wins comfortably as he maintained leads in all weighting categories
Best Director:
The Daniels cruise to victory, boasting a near 10 point winning percentage lead over the next closest nominee.
And Finally, Best Picture!:
These results show a more exciting competition than what the other lead-in awards shows have been hinting to. Everything Everywhere All at Once is victorious, boasting an amazing 77.55 win percentage. However, the score difference between them and the next 2 films is close enough that I don’t believe an upset is out of the picture. Both boasting win percentages over 66, Either The Banshees of Inisherin or Tàr could spoil what is expected to be a very big night for EEAAO.
Thank you so much for reading. And if you were a participant in the voting, know that I appreciate that so much more than you could imagine. This year’s final tally of votes was 16,691! Compare that to the 2021 Oscars seasion, which had 3,503 votes. Amazing!
Finally, I want to give a big thank you to the two main vote drivers for this model:
Numlock Awards - which is essential reading for everything leading up to Oscars night. Walter and Michael do fantastic work and they’re always generous at getting the word out.
r/Oscars - the folks at the Oscars subreddit always surprise me with their enthusiasm for this project. I’m always a little concerned that they’ll hit me with a self-promotion flag because I really have no other intelligent input about film, but they seem to have embraced this.
